Axfood is the first in the industry to sell vertically grown Swedish crisp lettuce in our stores! 🥬
Our own brand Garant crisp lettuce was developed together with Ljusgårda AB, which is at the forefront of Swedish vertical farming. The lettuce is grown indoors year-round, requires little space and minimal water.
The launch makes Axfood the first Swedish grocery player to centrally source and offer this type of lettuce to our store chains.
– We want to offer our customers more sustainable and Swedish-produced alternatives in fruit and vegetables. With LjusgÃ¥rda as a producer, we can now launch a salad that is completely free of pesticides, maintains high quality and is also grown year-round in Sweden, says Fredrik Westerberg, category manager for fruit, vegetables and flowers at Axfood’s purchasing and logistics company Dagab.
Crisp lettuce is From Sweden and Swedish Seal-labeled, and is now available at Hemköp, Willys, City Gross and other stores that sell Garant products. 🌿
